Hey guys it’s January already.
I am still working on my diorama. I think I am almost finished. I’m creating a park. I started with a lake. There are some buildings around and a fountain. I’ll post more pictures later. I think I’ll add some more buildings too and a few people.
I think it is going to take a while.
My friend had been struggling ever since she lost her father and roommate in quick succession last year. With her back injury, she was left unable to afford the rent. I felt a deep compulsion to help her, but I just didn’t know how.
I decided to start small by visiting and offering a listening ear. She gratefully accepted my help, even though I knew it was barely scratching the surface of her struggles. But I noticed that, even though she was going through a difficult time, she continually stayed hopeful.
I noticed her strength and resilience and knew that she was a fighter. Tim wanted to do more to help her and so he proposed an idea — a fundraiser. He knew it was a longshot but he wanted to believe that the kind people in our community were willing to help.
It was amazing to see how, in the midst of such difficult times, my friend remained hopeful and resilient. Seeing her benefit from the kindness of strangers was a reminder that there is still good in the world — and if we all put our minds to it, we can make a difference.
